Underwood Conservation District

Created in 1940 by farmers concerned about irrigation and land management practices, Underwood Conservation District has grown to encompass all of Skamania County, and Klickitat County West of the Klickitat River. Underwood CD sponsors conservation proejcts, organizes educational initiatives, and provides knowledge and advice to landowners and individuals interested in conservation efforts.

Small Farm Assistance

Underwood CD offers technical and financial assistance for small farms in their service area through cost-sharing programs, educational workshops and resources, site visits, and farm tools available for rent/loan.

Forest Management Assistance

Underwood CD can offer technical assistance for forest management, including education and consultation on wildfire preparation, financial assistance, site visits.

Water Management Assistance

Underwood CD can offer technical and financial assistance to provide landowners with ways of protecting water bodies on their property, riparian restoration, and water rights education.

Native Plant Sales

Along with education programs, Underwood CD offers low-cost tree and shrub saplings during their annual native plan sale.

Tool Library

Underwood CD offers residents in its service area access to their library of conservation-oriented farm tools that are available for rent/loan upon membership into the program.
